The race to achieve the most powerful processors is promising. Qualcomm is ahead of MediaTek and Intel is trying to offer the best processors for integration by manufacturers of mobile phones, tablets, or any device. Qualcomm presented the Snapdragon 690, an SoC (System on Chip) that arrives with powerful approaches.
Innovating in processors today goes through different paths and understanding the needs of the industry. The big leap in this era is to integrate 5G in mobile phones, but also try to improve the performance of the screens or facilitate the entry of AI in the devices.
The new Snapdragon 690 processor is the first in the 600 series to incorporate a 5G modem, an aspect that will help introduce this connectivity and will make it cheaper for the phones that integrate it. This 5G will allow the connection in SA or NSA networks in order to facilitate its use in networks that are activated in the future.
The 5G modem integrated into the SoC will be the Snapdragon X51 and, according to The Verge, it will leave more space inside the phones, in addition to having an optimization in heat dissipation.

But, aside from connectivity, it offers faster graphics rendering and allows the use of screens with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, it is calculated that its Kyro 560 CPU increases power by 20% compared to the previous processor.
It has been wanted to give focus also towards artificial intelligence, increasingly common in applications, and it announces a 70% higher performance in everything that has to do with it. An aspect that can open the door for developers to boost their use and lose the fear of slowing down the device with their AI.
In any case, the first phones with Snapdragon 690 will go on sale after the summer, and among the manufacturers that will incorporate it, at the moment, are LG, TCL, Motorola, Nokia, and SHARP. We will see if a price reduction is seen in the models with 5G connectivity
