Although 2020 didn’t start well and it seems a long year, but here is a reminder that we are in the middle of the second quarter of 2020 after suffering so many unusual things in first quarter of 2020 mainly due to the situation caused by the COVID-19.
Interestingly, research firm Canalys issued a new report which discloses the most popular smartphone models sold globally in the first quarter of 2020.
The issued report reveals the top 10 smartphones shipped globally. As expected Apple’s iPhone 11 took the top spot while the other models in iPhone 11 series, the top tier iPhone 11 Pro Max comes at the sixth spot while iPhone 11 Pro comes at tenth.
Xiaomi is the only Chinese OEM in the top 10 list with Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T at the second spot, Redmi Note 8 Pro ranks fifth while Redmi 8A ranks 9th in the list.
Other than Apple and Xiaomi, Samsung is the third OEM to rank in the top 10 Smartphones list. Samsung has four devices rank in the list with Galaxy A51 comes at the third spot followed by Galaxy A10s at the fourth spot with Galaxy A20s and Galaxy A01 at seventh and eighth spots respectively. It is interesting to note that all the Samsung devices appear on the list are mid-rangers.
Last month saw many new devices launched in China and many other markets, so we are expecting that by the end of this quarter this list likely to change or maybe we saw new entrants in the list.
