Due to the present consequences of COVID-19 pandemic, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided recently to extend the deadline of the blockage of all the Non-PTA approved smartphones for the next 30 days, that will be seen on all mobile telecom networks which are not yet registered.

The date has been extended in order to provide ease and relaxation to the people and to maintain the social distancing during this quarantine time. This blockage will continue from the 19th of May, 2020 and will be connected through SMS.
As per schedule, all the mobile devices that are connected to the local telecom networks and using the local Sims, are supposed to be registered within 60 days from the day when the first device used the local network in Pakistan. So, due to the current circumstances, the process of blocking the devices of which IMEI is not registered is starting from 18th of March to 18th of May, 2020.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has also launched a program in which it is introducing a device which is used for the identification of registered and blocked system (DIRBS). The mobile users can now register their devices through a website:
