However, this US ban can’t stop Huawei from achieving milestones. After the restrictions, Huawei CEO said “We can survive without the US” and it seems he is right as Huawei overtook Samsung by becoming the largest smartphone maker in the world.
Research firm counterpoint issued its report stating that Huawei becomes the world’s largest smartphone maker in April beating Samsung. Huawei occupies a 19% market share globally while Samsung only grabs 17% share in April 2020.
After reading this article, many want to know, How Huawei is doing so great even with the US ban?
Well, many people know that Huawei is a Chinese brand and all the Google services are banned in China. It means the domestic users don’t rely on Google Play Services.
Similarly, after the US ban, the Chinese purchasers show patriotism by purchasing more Huawei Phones. Lastly, Huawei didn’t achieve this milestone just on patriotism. Huawei produces excellent products that meet the user’s needs especially the best camera phones.
Huawei’s flagship P and Mate series are doing exceptionally well by not just offering good performance but providing the best camera result. Huawei is also taking the lead in mobile photography. Similarly, Honor X10 offers good performance and 5G at a much cheaper price. So it is explained why Huawei takes the lead but the next question arrives, why Samsung left behind?
The answer would be, due to COVID-19, the lockdown is imposed in major parts of the world. This affects smartphone demands especially in major markets like India, the USA, and Europe. Samsung drives more sales from these markets and they were the most affected due to COVID-19.
While China starts recovery in March and April and the demand for smartphone sales increases. These factors help Huawei in gaining the top spot for the month of April.
As the lockdown is gradually lifted in the big markets, these markets will show recovery which will help Samsung in regaining its throne. Still, Huawei has achieved a great milestone despite all the obstacles and bad luck.
