Since the inception of the in-display fingerprint scanner, tech enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the in-display selfie camera as it would allow users to have a full-screen display without any distraction which is caused by notches and punch-hole cutouts.
We expect that by the end of 2020 there are smartphones with an in-display selfie camera and in 2021 they are in hot demands just like in-display fingerprint scanner these days.

Visionox, a Chinese OLED manufacturer who is manufacturing OLED screens for brands like Xiaomi, has started mass production for in-display selfie cameras. Today, the Chinese Media reported that Visionox is ready for the mass production of OLED panels with an in-display selfie camera.
According to ITHome, Visionox solutions have made some hardware improvements to provide a better experience. These modifications include better transparency for better camera results and an “Industry-first drive circuit and panel structure design” to reduce distraction.

Visionox also announced that it would be working with smartphone manufacturers for software algorithms. These software algorithms will reportedly reduce diffraction, glare, and minimize the “fogging” effect. It will produce images with excellent brightness, and improved clarity, according to ITHome.

Oppo already flaunts a prototype during MWC Shanghai 2019 with an in-display camera which is their way to combat notches and punch-hole cutouts. At that time, Oppo discloses the leading problem manufacturers faced is with brightness and colour differences that will cause diffraction from the protective glass.
Visionox affirms that they have resolved these issues with multiple organic and non-organic film components that permit higher transparency. The hardware for this is new, but it will need software algorithms to hold it up. Visionox claims that they already develop software algorithm that fixes brightness color gamut and viewing angle problems.
