As the world is in lockdown due to the Covid-19 and many people are forced to stay at home especially students, Online games are becoming the number one option to kill time. Among the Online games, 2017 hit mobile action game “Player Unknown Battleground” or PUBG has become the most popular game in the world. However, an increase in gaming can cause a harmful impact on a person’s mental health.
A case reported in Karachi, as the excessive use of PUBG a youngster started to show indications of mental health problems. There is news that the same youngster might be going through Gaming Disorder.

Similar is the case from Lahore, as a resident of Lahore, Faizan Maqsood files a petition in Lahore Hgh Court on Monday to impose a ban on famous mobile action game PUBG as it is damaging the mental health and causing a negative impact on students.
The case was preceded by a bench headed by Justice Atir Mahmood who heard the petition and directs Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to take action within six weeks.
It is also added in the petition that PUBG caused a huge impact on the decision-making ability of children and is requested to remove it from Google Play Store. After hearing the petition LHC directs to take action within six weeks. It is yet not been confirmed whether this decision will impact on PC and console games.
If ban is imposed then Pakistan is not the only country in the world to put a ban on PUBG, previously Jorden imposed a ban on PUBG in July 2019 due to its negative impact on children’s mental health. Iraq, Nepal, and Indian state Gujrat also imposed a ban on PUBG.
China from where the game is originated also imposed a ban on PUBG and removed it from online sites and traded it with a patriotic “Game of Peace”. This game is similar to PUBG but all the violent features are censored in China.
It is also said that many parents complain that due to PUBG their children are losing focus on their studies which is a worrisome thing. It is on parents to keep an eye on their children’s gaming habits and if they are addicted to some games then parents should limit their game usage or themselves restrict their children from playing games.
