Strategy Analytics in its new report reveals that 24 million 5G smartphones shipped in the first quarter of 2020 globally. That is more than the total number of 5G smartphones shipped in 2019. The demand for 5G smartphones saw a massive increase globally and especially in China despite the global pandemic of Covid-19. Samsung is leading the 5G Smartphone market and the demand is also increasing in Korea, Europe, and the United States.

A new report from Strategy Analytics, reveals that Samsung with 34.4% again leads the global smartphone market on the backbone of a strong distribution network and partnerships with telecom operators. Samsung shipped 8.3 million 5G powered smartphones in Q1 of 2020. Huawei (including Honor Smartphones) with 33.2% fells short behind Samsung. Huawei shipped 8 million 5G smartphones in Q1 of 2020 as all the 5G smartphones were shipped in China. Mate 30, Honor V30 and Mate 30 Pro are the most popular Huawei’s 5G smartphones. At number three there is Vivo occupying 12% with 2.9 million smartphones shipped. On the fourth spot, there is Xiaomi occupying 10.4% with 2.5 million smartphones shipped. Oppo occupying 5.0% with 1.2 million smartphones shipped comes at fifth.
The rest 5% or 1.2 million 5G powered smartphones were shipped by the other manufactures. The above table shows that the popularity of 5G is growing rapidly. This report also reveals that the demand for 5G smartphones is high especially in china despite the ongoing Global pandemic.
