Samsung makes two versions of its flagship S-series and Note-series. For the Asian, African and Australian markets, they sell their “S” and “Note” series with Exynos version and for American and European markets they sell their flagship with Qualcomm Snapdragon version.
A recent gaming test result between the MediaTek Helio G90T powered Mid-ranger Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Exynos 990 powered flagship Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus makes Samsung claims that their chipset is as good as Qualcomm weak. This comparison test came out as a surprise for most of us as Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus cost more than $1000 while Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro costs around $200 which is much cheaper than Samsung’s Flagship.
A video uploaded by Youtuber Chong Liu who is famous for his benchmark related comparisons between gadgets shows that MediaTek Helio G90T powered Redmi Note 8 Pro overthrow’s Snapdragon 865 powered Galaxy S20Plus in a gaming test. He runs PUBG Mobile on both phones for straight 30 minutes and people will notice that Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro maintains a stable framerate of 60fps while the framerate on Galaxy S20 Plus drops to 40fps during 30 minutes of gameplay.
Tech community has also pointed out problems like overheating and throttling in the Exynos chipset. It seems that for hardcore mobile gamers Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is a better option which costs four times less than Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. This is a worrying thing for Samsung considering its company size. Many tests result also shows that Exynos chipset is not battery efficient and Samsung S20 Plus with Snapdragon Soc lasts longer.
